Best Website Design Practices

When designing a website it’s critically important that you tailor the experience to your target.  So you have to know your target and it’s possible you have more than one.  If you have three targets like B2C customers, B2B customers, and employees you need to design a separate experience for all of them.  Understand what they’re looking for and then create navigation that gets them there in no less than three clicks.  We always design for mobile first, layout your sitemap and navigation, and then clearly define the process of the user experience.  Graphics and design elements can be added once we know how you want it to function.  It’s a little like German automobile design.  Build the engine and all the components necessary to make the car work and then design the body around it.  Best website practices also need to include ‘triggers’ or calls to action.  Live chat, pop ups and other dynamic elements allow you to collect prospect/visitor data like an email address and best time to call.  But they can also be a turn off for business.  We’ll pay attention to visitors habits and click through rates and then adjust your program as necessary.  Once your new website is complete it may be time to run a campaign on Linked IN, Facebook, or Google/YouTube.  What happens when they click on the ad?  It should go to a simple landing page where the visitor can register, sign up for a free e-book, or purchase an item.  The entire process will be optimized for mobile and the person that clicks on the ad should then volunteer and email and finally execute an action.  KISS, “Keep it simple stupid”, approach always works best when executing any promotions.  Short headlines and brief descriptions work best and are required for most online ad campaigns.
